Nikhil Hituvalli4KidzAid has been a great experience for me this year and I will try to make more of that next year! Although most of the 4KidzAid meetings ended up being successful there were some dull moments as well. For instance, one time while passing out flyers, we went to a Safeway store and no one came. We passed out only around two flyers for the entire 45 minutes we were there! What I learned from that experience was that instead of going to markets with a very low population, we should take our time and look for a very close market that has a large population so we can pass out the flyers a lot faster and get the job done easier. So we definitely could have done that instead which would have made this great experience even better! We also had many meetings which is great but I believe that we had a big gap between one meeting and the next which I think we should keep having meetings to get the job done faster. But it is also really good because we are not rushing on the project and taking time makes it more joyous in my opinion and a good saying that I made is “taking more time makes it better quality!” So it is very hard to decide but we should do the projects a bit faster. Beside all of those flaws 4KidzAid has helped me turn into a better person because the world doesn’t revolve around you, it helps me to think that you have to be thankful for what you have and there are any other people who struggle and 4KidzAid taught me that!
My first year with 4kidzAid was spectacular. I liked how we gave flyers to people in our neighborhood. It gave me courage to speak to other people I don't know. I also enjoyed how we had a fundraiser at Mexico Lindo. It was a good felling to see all of the community come together and have fun. I learned to be responsible about my assignments. I don't want to hold back the team. I also learned that if you work with other people you can achieve bigger things. The hardest part was, trying to give flyers to random people at stores. I am proud to be part of a team that raised so much money that helped so many kids. |
Anirudh Kalahasti There were a few things that I liked, disliked, and thought that 4kidzaid could improve for its next year. The things that I liked were that to succeed, we had to work as a team. This skill can help you for the rest of your life. Another thing that I liked is that we were allowed to hang out after meetings. The last thing that I liked was how the teachers and the principles gave us a chance to help them and I hope that all of the others schools or other people allow us to help them. A thing that I thought we could add was jobs. Two people could update the website whenever it is needed. Another person could take notes every meeting and put them in a folder on Google Drive. These are the things that I liked and thought we could improve for 2017-2018.

Suhaas SurapaneniOur last year was an eventful one. When starting off, we all had a common goal of helping others. After brainstorming for hours, we finalized on helping schools in need. I took the responsibility of making a logo and after many drafts we decided to choose the one we have today. Then, we tackled the challenge of making a website. We finished the website within a week and it felt good to complete that task. Next, we reached out to two Title 1 schools and asked if they wanted our help. They both said yes. We partnered with Mexico Lindo and Goodwill of San Jose to bring school supplies and sports equipment to these two schools in need of support. To advertise for these events, we created colorful flyers that stood out and attracted the attention of many people. While it was hard standing in front of stores and asking strangers to donate to this cause, it taught me to not be shy and to get out of my comfort zone. Our meetings were collaborative and mostly productive. They helped teach me to stay on task and focus on our goal of helping others. Our first project started off slow but we made a huge leap by partnering with Mexico Lindo. Their generous owner, Mr.Andreas, helped us reach our goal. For our second school, we organized a donation drive with Goodwill of San Jose to raise money. We also raised lots of money ourselves so that the school was able to buy school supplies. This year, I felt very happy thinking about the smile on every kid’s face when they see their school stocked with school supplies. I am also happy that I can share my love for sports with hundreds of kids.
